Phillip Knight wanted to see the world. He wanted his crazy business proposition to take off and send him from one place to the next. It was this crazy idea of his that sent him all over the world. Knight started out with his good friend, Carter, on an expedition to go explore the world and start a company in Japan. They started in Hawaii and after they got there, they never wanted to leave. Eventually, Phillip Knight realized that his dream of going to Japan was never going to be accomplished if he never left Hawaii. So he left Carter and bought a one way ticket to anywhere. He caught a flight to Japan and his journey was on its way. He met up with some people in Japan who could put him in touch with a shoe company that he desperately wanted to meet with. His meeting with them was long and detailed and fascinating. Knight was fascinated with the entire company and every inner working of it. He wanted to buy some of their shoes and bring them to the United States. He knew people there would love them. His visit to Japan just about ended there. After his meeting with the Japanese shoe company, Onitsuka, Knight traveled the world. He wanted to see everything he possibly could. He wanted to go on an adventure and it was this adventure that gave him the opportunity of a lifetime. Knight was able to travel the world and get business ideas from successful companies everywhere. After his long journey around the world, Knight returned home, excited for the future of his crazy idea. Knight’s journey became so vitally important to his goals. He was able to use the knowledge and connections he’d gained to grow his idea into a small business that would eventually become a billion dollar company.
